Professor Chuanren Ke, Founding Director
Professor Chuanren KE is the Founding Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Iowa.
Professor KE is a professor of Chinese in the Department of Asian Languages and a professor of Second Language Acquisition in the Doctoral Program in Second Language Acquisition (FLARE) at the University of Iowa.
Professor KE holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics with a Ph.D. minor in Psychology from Indiana University at Bloomington and a BA in English from Beijing Normal University.
Professor KE is a certified ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) Tester Trainer and a certified ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) Tester of Chinese with the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
Xi Ma, Curriculum Coordinator
Ms. Ma is the Curriculum Coordinator at the Confucius Institute. Ms. Ma also teaches CI courses. She is a returning Iowa Alumnus, moving here in 2012 from Bronx, New York where she coordinated the Mandarin Language Program for Fordham University.
Ms. Ma holds an MA in Asian and Slavic Languages and Literatures from the University of Iowa, an MA in Foreign Language and Applied Linguistics and a BA in English from Anhui University.
Erin Mullins, Program Coordinator
Ms. MULLINS is the Program Coordinator at the Confucius Institute. A graduate of the University of Iowa, Ms. MULLINS holds an M.A. in Counselor Education and a B.A. in Elementary Education.
Joining the Confucius Institute at the University of Iowa in 2011, Ms. MULLINS previously provided outreach education and services to area schools and community agencies.
