Confucius Institute at the University of Iowa

Along with Confucius Institutes worldwide, the Confucius Institute at the University of Iowa is working to bridge the gap between the US and China by promoting cultural understanding through cross-cultural communication and dialogue.

The Confucius Institute is a collaborative project between the University of Iowa, the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban), and East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai. The Confucius Institute, which is part of University of Iowa International Programs, also draws upon the considerable expertise and resources in a number of colleges and units at the University of Iowa, including the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Ph.D. program in Second Language Acquisition, the College of Education, the Graduate College, the College of Law, and the Office of Vice President for Research.

The Confucius Institute offers Iowans courses in Chinese language and culture and plays a leadership role in international Chinese Foreign Language research and teacher development.
