About Lori
Lori began working in the Office for Study Abroad as a peer adviser in 2003 after her first study abroad experience in Oaxaca, Mexico. In 2004, she spent a year studying and living in Australia while conducting research for her honors thesis focused on traditional Aboriginal health and healing. Lori earned her B.A. with Honors entitled: "Cultural Expression within Indigenous Communities" through Interdepartmental Studies at the University of Iowa in 2005. She also earned a certificate in American Indian and Native Studies.
Lori joined the professional advising staff in the Office for Study Abroad in 2005 and advises students interested in Australia, New Zealand or India. In addition, Lori coordinates the incoming international exchange program and several short term programs around the world.
She is the Founder and Chair of the International Programs Environmental Committee and serves on various other committees within International Programs. Her main interests in the field of international education include sustainability/ecotourism and LGBT/gender issues abroad.
