Give a Gift to IP
International Programs leads the University of Iowa's efforts to meet the increasingly international challenges of the 21st century. Each year more than 900 UI students study abroad in over 40 countries. Almost 2,300 international students and scholars representing more than 100 nations annually come to The University of Iowa to learn. IP works to:
- Infuse international knowledge into Iowa's undergraduate, graduate, and professional curricula
- Promote international scholarship and educational exchange
- Enhance the Iowa experience for international students and scholars
- Further international understanding and activities across the state
- Create a community and society responsive to the international needs and obligations of citizenship
Thanks to IP, Iowa students can pursue a B.A. or M.A. degree in International Studies, as well as a nationally innovative doctorate in second-language acquisition. To support these degrees as well as curricular needs throughout the University, our faculty members focus on international and global issues in more than 250 courses taught in all 11 UI colleges.
IP supports nationally renowned academic programs and service units such as the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies, the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies, and the UI Center for Human Rights. The University of Iowa sustains cutting-edge international research and training through agreements with nearly 100 universities and research institutes worldwide.
IP strives to educate local and regional communities as well. A dynamic outreach program supports teacher training, public lectures, presentations, visits to K-12 classrooms, and other initiatives that increase global awareness in the local and regional communities.
In each of these areas, IP relies on private support for high-quality programs. As we seek to maintain and enhance that quality in the years ahead -- and to benefit increasing numbers of UI students, faculty, and community members -- private support will become even more critical. Please help us sustain excellence in international instruction and research by making a gift to International Programs online.
